【평택=코리아플러스】정영래 기자 = 경기도 평택시 재향군인회 최영길 회장 및 30여 명의 회원들은 지난 13일 미 육군 캠프 험프리스 기지(K-6)를 방문했다.

재향군인회 회원들은 기지 부사령관 패트릭 맥켄지씨로부터 기지 이전 현황 브리핑을 받고 시설 견학을 하였으며, 대한민국의 자유수호를 위해 수고하고 있는 주한미군 장병들에게 위문품을 전달했다.

또한, 6.25 전쟁 당시 미 8군 사령관이었던 워커 장군의 동상과 기지 내 순직자 추모 공원에서 헌화식을 가졌다.

이번 재향군인회원들의 방문은 미 육군 험프리스 수비대와 지역단체들의 유대관계를 강화하며, 한미 동맹을 더욱 공고히 했다

 

Thirty members of Pyeongtaek Veterans Association (PVA), including the President, Yong-Gil Choi visited Camp Humphreys, Nov. 13. PVA members received a transformation brief from Patrick MacKenzie, Deputy to the Garrison Commander,

 

USAG Humphreys and had a post tour. PVA members delivered gifts sets to the U.S. service members who are working hard to defend the freedom of the Republic of Korea. Also, they had floral tribute ceremonies at the General Walker’s statue and a memorial park on post. General Walker was the commander of 8th Army during the Korean War. PVA members’ visit this time enhanced the cooperative relationship between USAG Humphreys and local community and strengthened the ROK-U.S. alliance.
