【성경읽기】 야고보서 3장 3절 4월 1일 일요일

【세종=코리아플러스】 장영래 기자 = 1. 사랑하는 형제 여러분, 다들 선생이 되려고 하지 마십시오. 선생된 우리가 더 엄히 심판받을 줄 여러분도 알고 있을 것입니다.

2. 우리는 모두 실수가 많은 사람들입니다. 말에 실수가 전혀 없는 사람이 있다면, 그 사람은 완벽한 사람일 것입니다. 그런 사람은 자신의 몸 전체를 다스릴 수 있는 사람입니다.

3. 말의 입에 재갈을 물리면, 우리는 말을 능히 부릴 수 있습니다.

4. 큰 배가 강풍에 밀려 휩쓸리지만, 그 배를 조종하는 것은 매우 작은 키 하나에 불과합니다. 키를 조종하는 항해사가 자기 뜻대로 배가 가는 방향을 결정할 수 있습니다.

5. 혀도 마찬가지입니다. 몸 가운데 지극히 작은 부분이지만, 큰 일을 행함으로 자랑합니다. 큰 산불도 아주 조그만 불씨에서 시작하지 않습니까?

6. 혀도 곧 불입니다. 혀는 우리 몸 가운데 악의 세계라고 할 수 있습니다. 이것이 몸을 더럽히고, 우리 인생의 전 여정에 불을 지르며, 나중에는 혀도 불에 의해 살라집니다.

7. 온갖 짐승과 새, 파충류, 물고기는 길들일 수 있고, 사람들은 또한 이것들을 길들여 왔습니다.

8. 그러나 아무도 혀를 길들이지는 못했습니다. 악하고 난폭한 이 혀에는 죽이는 독이 가득합니다.

9. 우리는 우리의 혀로 우리 주님과 하늘에 계신 아버지를 찬양합니다. 그러나 이것으로 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받은 사람들을 저주하기도 합니다.

10. 찬송과 저주가 한 입에서 나오고 있습니다. 형제 여러분, 이런 일이 있어서는 안 될 것입니다.

11. 한 샘에서 단물과 쓴물이 같이 나오는 것을 보았습니까?

12. 형제 여러분, 무화과나무가 올리브 열매를 맺거나 포도나무에 무화과가 열리는 것을 보았습니까? 그럴 수 없습니다. 짠물이 나는 샘에서 단물을 맛볼 수는 없는 것입니다.

13. 여러분 가운데 참된 지혜가 있고 총명한 사람이 누구입니까? 그는 올바른 삶을 통해 겸손함으로 자신의 지혜를 보여야 할 것입니다.

14. 그러나 마음속에 이기심과 지독한 시기심이 있다면, 자랑하지 마십시오. 오히려 그 자랑은 진리를 숨기는 거짓말이 될 것이기 때문입니다.

15. 그런 '지혜'는 분명히 하나님께로부터 온 것이 아닙니다. 그것은 세상의 지혜이며, 영적인 것도 아니고, 마귀에게서 온 것입니다.

16. 시기심과 이기심이 있는 곳에는 혼란과 온갖 악한 일이 있을 뿐입니다.

17. 하나님께로부터 온 지혜는 첫째 성결합니다. 그리고 평화가 있고, 양순하며, 즐겁습니다. 또한 어려움에 빠진 자들을 돕고, 다른 사람을 위해 선한 일을 하려 애씁니다. 늘 공평하며 정직합니다.

18. 평화를 위해 힘쓰는 자들은 그들의 의로운 삶으로 좋은 열매를 맺게 될 것입니다.


NIV 야고보서3장

1. Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

2. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

3. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.

4. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

5. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

6. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

7. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man,

8. but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

9. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.

10. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

11. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

12. My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

13. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.


14. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

15. Such 'wisdom' does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.

16. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

18. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
